PROCESS OF POSTING

I am inviting more writers and making an attempt to make this a community blog. This post intends to provide instructions to new writers on the process of writing and posting in Kannada.

1. Install softwares Baraha and IrfanView on your machine. They are downloadable from baraha.com and irfanview.com for free.
2. Baraha creates Kannada letters as you type in English. The process is called transliteration. See the help and use the editor. It is fairly easy but you will take some time to get used to it.
3. Write your post. Read through it and make sure that it is devoid of any typographical errors. Most people make lot of mistakes when working on a transliteration tool like Baraha. So double check that you have no mistakes. This is very important.
4. At any point of time when you are writing, click on menu Edit >> convert to see the transliterated Kannada text.
5. The post has to be converted to jpeg since what is hosted is images and not text. Some day we will move to hosting text, but not now at least. The reason being that, not all people may be able to see the text since the user's browsers or operating system may not be the compatible and they may not be able to view text. We will work to fix this problem. Right now we need to create a jpeg file of width 600 pixels for posting. 600 pixels ensures that it fits properly on the blog layout. I am giving the process to do it here, but some tabs/options may vary from version to version of Baraha. Remember that what you finally need is a jpeg of width 600 pixels. Click on menu File >> export. In the file type box in export type tab, choose the option as JPEG. Go to picture options tab and set the width to 600 and say OK. You will be asked to give a file name. Save the jpeg file.
6. Also save the file as .BRH file using File >> Save as . This is important because if you dont keep a .BRH file, you will never be able to modify your post if you find any mistakes later. You will have to rewrite the whole thing.
7. The jpeg file created will have header and footer information that we don't need. This is where Irfanview comes into picture. Open the jpeg in Irfanview, select the content portion only, leaving out header and footer. Crop the selected portion using Edit >> Crop selection.
7. Login to blogger. Create a new post for yensamachara. Click on upload image() on the top of the text box. This will pop up a menu for uploading your file. Select the file. Leave the path as blank and click upload. This will upload the image. After uploading, you will be asked to select from inserting the image or link. Choose the first option and click Done. The code to display the image will be generated in the text box. Make sure you don't provide a title in the title box as you can do that only in English. Put the title along with your post written in Baraha.
8. Preview the image and publish it. You are done!
